Introducing FabOps and the New CutQuote

After 15 years of building software for fabrication shops, we’re launching two new products: FabOps, a full Manufacturing ERP at fabops.app, and a redesigned CutQuote at cutquote.app. Both are available today.

Why two new products?

We started with LaserQuote in 2011, built RanFab into a full ERP for profile cutters, and launched CutQuote as a dedicated quoting tool. Over the years, we’ve worked with hundreds of fabrication shops across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe, and North America. Every conversation taught us something about what shops actually need day to day.

Two things became clear. First, many shops only need fast, accurate quoting — nothing more. Second, the shops that do need a full ERP want it built specifically for fabrication, not adapted from generic manufacturing software. We decided to serve both needs properly with two focused products rather than one that tries to do everything for everyone.

FabOps: the full picture

FabOps is a Manufacturing ERP designed from the ground up for metal fabrication. It includes everything CutQuote offers — DXF/DWG/STEP import, automatic geometry cleanup, true-shape nesting, branded customer portal — plus the operational tools that run the rest of your shop.

  • Supplier management with automated RFQs and purchase order generation
  • Inventory tracking with stock levels, scrap/offcut management, and reorder points
  • Production scheduling with Gantt views, drag-and-drop, and an AI Schedule Advisor
  • Shop floor time tracking with PIN-based clock-in that feeds actual costs back to quoting
  • Advanced CRM with pipeline Kanban, forecasting, customer health scoring, and engagement tracking
  • Quality and NCR tracking with corrective actions, issue templates, and file attachments
  • Xero accounting sync, Stripe Connect for payments, and a full REST API
  • White-label branding on all PDFs, portal, and customer-facing documents
  • Cloud hosting (up to 10 users) or on-premise deployment for unlimited users

Pricing is straightforward: $3,600 per user per year, all features included. No tiers, no add-ons, no feature gatekeeping. Everyone gets everything.

CutQuote: rebuilt and refocused

The new CutQuote at cutquote.app is a complete rebuild of our quoting engine, focused on doing one thing exceptionally well: getting accurate quotes out the door fast.

If you’re a laser shop, a contract cutter, or a small fabrication business that needs professional quoting without the overhead of a full ERP, CutQuote is the tool. Upload a DXF and get a quote in five seconds. Upload a STEP file and CutQuote auto-detects sheet metal, unfolds it, identifies bends, and calculates cutting and folding costs — no CAD skills required.

The customer portal lets your clients upload their own files, see instant pricing, accept quotes, and pay online through Stripe. Quotes go out while you’re on the shop floor. CutQuote includes a 14-day free trial so you can test it with your own files and machines before committing.

What happens to RanFab?

RanFab isn’t going anywhere. It remains a fully supported product for shops that rely on it. RanFab is a locally installed ERP with its own strengths — particularly for businesses that want complete on-premise control and have built their workflows around it.

FabOps is a new product that sits alongside RanFab, not a replacement. If you’re currently on RanFab or LaserQuote and want to move to FabOps or Cutquote, we provide migration tools to bring across your customers, suppliers, parts, materials, and historical quotes. Get in touch at [email protected] and we’ll help plan the transition.

Built from experience

We’ve been building software for fabrication since 2011. Our team includes former metal business owners and engineers who understand the day-to-day pressures of running a fab shop. FabOps and CutQuote aren’t theoretical — they’re built from thousands of real conversations with shop owners, estimators, and production managers.

With over 300 shops using our software, a 90% retention rate, and customers across six continents, we’re confident these products are ready. But as always, we’re listening. If you’ve got ideas, feedback, or questions, we want to hear them.
